How it works
Every variable. Measured.
0.1g accuracy — the difference between a good and a great cup
At 0.1g resolution, the Gik Precision Scale measures from 0.3g up to 2000g. That's precise enough for a single espresso dose (18–20g) or a full batch brew (500g+). The difference between 18.0g and 18.7g is audible in the cup — especially with the Gik Fang where grind consistency is already dialled. The scale completes what the grinder starts.
Built-in timer — dose, yield, and extraction time in one view
The LED display shows weight and timer simultaneously — no separate stopwatch, no phone propped up beside the scale. The timer runs up to 9 minutes 59 seconds, covering every brew method from a 25-second espresso to a 4-minute French press steep. Start, stop, reset from the same button.
3 weighing modes — Standard, Pour-over, Espresso
Standard mode is always-on manual weighing. Pour-over mode (M1) auto-resets tare and triggers the timer when you begin pouring — perfect for a V60 bloom. Espresso mode (M2) starts the timer the moment espresso begins flowing into the cup. Each mode is designed around how that method actually works, not just added for spec sheet padding.
L-shaped silicone pad — waterproof and portafilter-compatible
he removable silicone pad is reversible — one orientation protects the scale surface from heat during brewing, the other orientation uses the L-shape to support the handle of a portafilter while you weigh your dose. That detail alone makes this scale dramatically more practical for espresso preparation than a flat pad.
1500mAh USB-C rechargeable — long battery life, modern charging
The 1500mAh lithium battery charges via USB-C — same cable as your phone. Auto-off after inactivity preserves battery life. A battery level indicator shows remaining charge so you're never surprised mid-session. The auto-off timer is cancellable if you're running a longer brewing session.
One scale. Every brew method.
Each mode is designed around how that method actually works. Not just a timer — a workflow.
0.1g. Timer. Three modes.
Everything a serious home brewer needs. Nothing that adds bulk without adding function.
Answered.
Do I need a scale if I already have a grinder?
Yes — the grinder controls particle size, the scale controls dose. Without a scale you're estimating by volume, which changes every time beans are denser or less dense, more or less humid. A 0.1g scale is what locks in your recipe so every cup is repeatable. Your grinder and scale work together, not independently.
What's the difference between the three modes?
Standard is manual — you control the timer yourself. Pour-over mode auto-starts the timer when it detects water being poured, so you don't have to tap anything mid-pour. Espresso mode auto-starts when espresso begins flowing into the cup. Each mode removes one more thing you have to think about during the brew.
Will this fit on my espresso machine drip tray?
The scale is compact and designed to fit on most home espresso machine drip trays. The L-shaped silicone pad has a reversible design that also supports the portafilter handle — so you can weigh your dose directly into the portafilter basket without the handle knocking the scale off the tray.
How long does the battery last?
The 1500mAh battery provides long standby time with the auto-off function active (default: 3 minutes of inactivity, cancellable). For daily home use — one or two sessions per day — you'll typically go weeks between charges. The battery indicator on the display lets you know before it runs low.
Can I use this for pour-over and espresso on the same setup?
Yes — the three modes mean you switch between pour-over and espresso workflows with a double-tap. The same scale handles both. If you have a Gik Onyx or Fang for filter brewing and pull espresso on a machine too, one Gik Precision Scale covers the full setup.
