Why Ghost Burr

Not all burrs grind the same

01

Oval particle geometry

Ghost teeth burrs produce uniform oval-shaped coffee particles. Water flows through faster — giving you precise control over pour-over extraction time and a cleaner, brighter cup.

02

Titanium-coated 49mm SS420

High-hardness SS420 steel with titanium coating. Stays sharper longer than ceramic burrs and won't transfer metallic taste to your coffee.

External grind adjustment ring

Dial in grind size without disassembling. Precise stepped clicks — fine enough for AeroPress, coarse enough for cold brew. Find your setting once, return to it every time.

Tool-free quick disassembly

The entire burr housing unscrews by hand. Deep-clean in seconds, reassemble just as fast. Compact all-metal body goes from counter to bag without second thought.

Brew guide

Built for filter. Dialed for each method.

The ghost burr's oval particles flow freely — giving you clean extraction across every filter method. Use the grind settings below as your starting point.

Where the ghost burr shines most. Oval particles create an even bed — water flows through uniformly, pulling out brightness and sweetness without bitterness. Use light to medium roasts.

Light roast Medium roast 2:30–3:00 min brew

Chemex uses a thick paper filter — grind slightly coarser to compensate and keep your brew time in range. Produces a clean, bright cup with zero sediment.

Light roast 4:00–4:30 min brew Clean body

Versatile range — fine for espresso-style concentrate, medium for a cleaner cup. Ghost burr consistency means you get repeatable results whether you press fast or slow.

Medium roast Dark roast 1:00–2:00 min brew

The flat-bottom Kalita rewards even grinds. Ghost burr's uniform oval particles distribute evenly across the bed — forgiving for beginners, precise for dialing in.

Light–medium roast 3:00–3:30 min brew Beginner-friendly

Coarsest setting. Minimal fines means less bitterness in your cold brew even after 12–16 hours of steeping.

Medium–dark roast 12–16 hr steep Low bitterness

Starting point, not a rule. Grind settings vary by bean, roast date, and humidity. Adjust finer if your brew tastes weak or sour, coarser if it tastes bitter or heavy.

Common questions

Answered.

What is a ghost burr and why does it matter?

Ghost teeth burrs produce uniform oval-shaped particles. Water passes through faster and more evenly — giving you cleaner extraction and better control over your pour-over brew time.

Is the Gik Fang good for beginners?

Yes. External grind adjustment means you never need to disassemble to change settings. Even an imperfect technique produces a noticeably better cup than a blade grinder.

Can this grinder do espresso?

The Ghost Burr is optimized for filter coffee. For espresso, the Gik Flat Burr 49mm is the better fit. If you brew both, consider pairing both models.

How do I clean it?

Tool-free disassembly — the burr housing unscrews by hand. Brush out the burr, rinse the catch cup. Full clean under 30 seconds. Deep clean every 2–4 weeks.
